A few times we were awarded a grant to visit Young Arena and watch the Waterloo Black Hawks hockey team practice.

Through a grant, we have been fortunate, to take a drama workshop both at Strayer Wood Theatre on the Campus of the University of Northern Iowa and in our own classroom. Gretta Berghammer is AWESOME!

One year, we were awarded a grant to begin a Nature Club in third grade. We did fun nature activities including planting the two big trees next to the U-Garden. We took an summer trip to the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City, Iowa.

We used to take a trip to the Waterloo Courier in downtown Waterloo at the end of the year. However, they have since stopped printing newspapers in that location, so we changed the trip.

We have partnered up with middle school students to do special activities called APPLE Buddies.

Sometimes we have a special guest reader come in for Read Across America Day. This is Dan Sova from the Waterloo Black Hawks.

We were awarded a national Pay it Forward grant, in which we propagated plants, gave them away, and then gave instructions for the recipient to "Pay it Forward."

The third and fourth graders used to head to Prairie Hills Farms near New Hartford for a day of learning and fun. We appreciate Byron and Mary Norton for their many years of learning!
